Purification Fruit

Therefore submit to God. Resist the devil and he will flee from you. Draw near to God and He will draw near to you. Cleanse your hands, you sinners, and purify your hearts, you double-minded. Lament and mourn and weep! Let your laughter be turned to mourning and your joy to gloom. Humble yourselves in the sight of the Lord, and He will lift you up.
                                                                                                                                               James 4:7-10
Intention
We must pray and repent towards His purity as members of His royal priesthood.
Reflection
When we consider the Holy Spirit, we often reflect on the truth that He is our Comforter. In an acutely trying time in every nation, all across the planet, that is a very welcome word. But focusing on the Spirit also has another effect. If we want to challenge the worldliness that we’re all subject to and progress from spiritual milk to meat, it’s vital that we grow in Christ by experiencing the Holy Spirit as our teacher, helper, and the One who will convict the world of sin, and of righteousness and judgment (John 16:8).
God calls us to purify our hearts. We each are to call upon the indwelling Holy Spirit to convict us of old, ungodly sin patterns. We are to pray regularly, invite Him into our prayers as our Helper, seeking His wisdom as to where sin still reigns in our lives. He will forgive us of that sin as we confess it. At that point, we have the freewill choice with His encouragement to remove that sin pattern and replace it with His Word as our new direction, on His path of purity. What may at first seem difficult and joyless, given our addiction to this world, will soon bring freedom and joy.
“Let your laughter be turned to mourning and your joy to gloom. Humble yourselves in the sight of the Lord, and He will lift you up.” Humility cures worldliness. As we repent, the Holy Spirit lifts us up and His joy becomes our strength.
Satan wishes to have this truth hidden in a lukewarm body of Christ in every nation. But here is a truth that should summon zeal in every believer: joy and liberty in Christ always follow repentance!
From the heavenly perspective of the risen Christ, He sees us already as His royal priesthood: “But you are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, His own special people, that you may proclaim the praises of Him who called you out of darkness into His marvellous light, who once were not a people but are now the people of God, who had not obtained mercy, but now have obtained mercy.” 1 Peter 2:9-10
This wonderful truth from Scripture adds to our hope in the Gospel in His perfect shed blood for our sins. The more we pray prayers of cleansing and repentance, the more we become like Him: “Beloved, now we are children of God, and it has not yet been revealed what we shall be, but we know that when He is revealed, we shall be like Him, for we shall see Him as He is. And everyone who has this hope in Him purifies himself, just as He is pure.” 1 John 3:2-3
Prayers of purification will remove worldliness. Purification prayers will lead to cleaner vessels; believers evidencing more fruits of the Holy Spirit; and a more powerful witness to those who don’t yet know Him.
May the joyful fruit of purification prayers launched in Australia open minds and hearts in all other nations! Australia is already known globally for its unique flora and fauna. May it now be known throughout the body of Christ in all nations for its purification fruit!
